MIPIM UK 2015: The two winners of the first round of the MIPIM Startup Competition, were announced yesterday (Thursday).

UK company OpenSensors.io and Standard Access from the Republic of Ireland will go forward to the final of the competition, to be staged at MIPIM, Cannes, next March.

Two more preliminary rounds will be held at MIPIM Asia, Hong Kong, in December and at MIPIM in Cannes.

The competition, the first global real estate and urban management startup competition, is intended to recognise the most dynamic international new businesses providing solutions for property and urban management.

OpenSensors.io describes itself as an “internet of things company” that enables large numbers of sensors and internet-connected devices to be connected and provides the means to obtain and reuse publicly available real-time data.

Standard Access provides a combination of hardware, software and locks that enable secure access to buildings using smartphones or tablets.

153 startups registered for the Startup-O ‘Fasttrack’ program from across 19 countries but less than half of the total were selected to participate in the 10-week online assessment program.

Standard Access took Gold in the Tech category at the 2015 Bank Of Ireland Startup Awards which took place on Thursday 12th November in Croke Park, Dublin.

Established in 2014 this IoT (Internet of Things) startup has developed a connected device combination of hardware, software and a lock that allows real estate access via a smartphone integrated with a client/tenant management platform. Landlords and property managers can now remotely allow access to anyone via a smartphone.

MIPIM recently announced the first finalists of the inaugural MIPIM Startup Competition. The launch of the tech startup competition attracted 70 entries from 27 countries for the London round at MIPIM UK. The finest startups from all rounds will compete in the in finals at MIPIM in March 2016.

Amount the finalists are Standard Access: Standard Access (Ireland): Standard Access has developed a hardware, software, and lock combination that facilitates building access using a smartphone or tablet, integrated with a client management platform.
